Veon Armenia and Child Development Foundation launch third stage of digital opportunities for students
YEREVAN, July 2. /ARKA/. Veon Armenia telecom operator (trading as Beeline in Armenia) and the Child Development Foundation have launched the third stage of their joint program called "Digital Opportunities for Students."
According to the telecom operator, the goal of the program is to make the daily educational process in Armenia more interactive, interesting and effective by means of teaching digital skills to students. The program is designed for 120 students aged 13-16 from 10 schools in Ararat, Armavir, Vayots Dzor and Kotayk regions.
The first stage began in May. Today’s six-hour course on “What to tell, how to tell and whom to tell,” taught children the skills of forming speech and creating content.
"I am very happy to see today's young people who have the opportunity to discover the advantages of modern technologies with the help of experienced mentors. I am sure that the knowledge gained during this program will be very useful for them in further education, work and everyday life," said Veon Armenia CEO Andrey Pyatakhin.
According to the head of the Child Development Fund Lusine Simonyan, at the first stage, the children were taught information technology equipment; at the second stage they were taught how to organize interactive cooperation on the Internet and how to use Web 2.0 technology tools to create effective educational resources.
"The students became more familiar with interesting tools that can be used later in the classroom. Such programs play a crucial role in the development of children, which subsequently will allow us to have an active, educated and informed citizen," said Simonyan.
Based on the outcome of the program a textbook is to be created that will enable to sum up the tools of the program that can be later made available to other schools.
