A Gila Ridge soccer standout will join a soccer academy in Spain to chase his dream of becoming a professional.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Gila Ridge's Vincent Horne will join the Select Generation Academy in Salamanca, Spain to chase his dreams of becoming a professional soccer player.

"Opportunities for going like a pro are way higher than they are in the US," Horne said.

Horne primarily plays as a center back and believes he believes he needs to improve his tactical and technical awareness to make it to the highest level.

"In Spain they really like they have a different mindset when it comes to playing soccer," Horne said. "They're really like serious about wanting to teach their their kids how to play the way that Spain does."

His father was in the military and Horne spent time living in Germany. He hopes that familiarity with living in Europe will help ease the transition. However, he doesn't speak Spanish. So, Horne says he is learning Spanish so he can hit the ground running in Salamanca.
